Setting up of Space Technology Incubation Centre at MANIT

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed between Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) on 18.3.2021 for setting-up a “Space Technology Incubation Centre (S-TIC)” at MANIT, Bhopal. The MOU is signed by Dr. P. V. Venkitakrishnan Director CBPO, from ISRO and Dr. N. S. Raghuwanshi, Director MANIT Bhopal in an online ceremony held on 18.3.2021 in the presence of ISRO Chairman Dr. K. Sivan Chairman ISRO. Dr. Sivan highlighted the necessity of close interaction between industry, academia and ISRO.
the purpose of S-TIC is not only to attract and nurture young academia with research aptitude, but also to support them to initiate start-up in the field of space technology. Thus, research outcome of the students who delves into innovative ideas will be translated into a proof of concept or prototype through industries tie up.
On this occasion Dr. N. S. Raghuwanshi said that MANIT Bhopal is committed to undertake Research & Technology Projects on the live problems of the ISRO and to provide available research facilities and faculty expertise to other regional academic centres / cells under ISRO ambit apart from imparting relevant training to person(s) working on the project.  
Earlier on March 3, 2021, a two-member team of Capacity Building Programme Office (CBPO) of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) comprising of Associate Director CBPO, Dr. Jiwan Kumar Pandit and Programme Manager Shri Nishant Kumar had visited NIT Bhopal to look into the research facilities and the expertise available in MANIT.
ISRO has already set up six STICs at different NITs. Out of these three STICs at NIT Jalandher, Trichi and Agartala are already operational, while three incubation centres at MANIT Bhopal, VNIT Nagpur and NIT Rourkela had the MoU signed on 18.3.2021.  ISRO shall provide Grant-in-Aid to develop Academia-Industry ecosystem for Space Technology, and S-TIC at MANIT Bhopal shall cater central region of our country comprising of the state of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh.  Dr. Savita Nema, is acting as Coordinator S-TIC.
